Slate Roofing

Slate is another very durable material that is almost indestructible, and is seen most often on upscale houses. Because of it’s long lasting quality, it is actually not so uncommon to see 100+ year old homes with slate roofs. The material is actual slivers of rock, also referred to as roofing shingles. 

Slate Roofing, Very Attractive

Slate roofing is known for its beauty and attractive appearance. It comes in a variety of shapes and thicknesses as well as a wide range of colors, including gray, green, purple, black, red, and more. Slate roofing is also fire resistant and environmentally friendly. The initial installation is costly and challenging but once installed it will last a long time.

There are some down sides to slate roofing to keep in mind:

  3. Difficult installation
